Help support NCC events and programs during Fall Rhapsody, the most popular period for visitors to NCC sites. Every year, fall colours attract hundreds of thousands of visitors to parks and natural spaces in the National Capital Region.

Title: Volunteer Support Officer
Location: 
Gatineau Park

Volunteers will be responsible for enhancing the visitor experience, and assisting the NCC with logistical support.

They will welcome, inform and direct the many visitors who visit the Park during Fall Rhapsody. They will be stationed at popular Park sites.

The work is performed outdoors, and requires appropriate clothing. The NCC will provide the necessary equipment, as well as information and training.

Commitment and schedule

The NCC Fall Rhapsody program runs for four weekends in October, as well as on Thanksgiving Monday.

Work shifts are seven hours. Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of three shifts.

The schedule is determined in advance by the NCC, in collaboration with the volunteers. Volunteers must also attend an introductory meeting.

Trail patrols operate from early December to mid-April, depending on weather conditions. Volunteers have to be available for at least eight patrol shifts.

Requirements

  • Be 16 years of age or older
  • Be bilingual (English and French)
  • Be capable of working in variable weather conditions

Assets

  • Experience with events or visitor experience
  • Knowledge of Gatineau Park’s mandate
