Do you want to discover the Rideau Canal up close? As part of Open NCC, EKEAU is offering two free boat tours to discover and experience the historic Rideau Canal. Discover the richness of the region’s historical landmarks on board their brand-new electric vessel.

About the activity

This is a wheelchair-accessible boat tour. However, boarding reduced-mobility people can be a challenge as there is no ramp. This activity is suitable for all ages.

Hours

Two exclusive cruises for Open NCC:

  • 10:30 am departure
  • 1 pm departure

The boat tour lasts for approximately one hour.

Meeting point

The boat tour will start on the Colonel By side of the Rideau Canal, right behind the Senate of Canada Building. The dock is accessible off the Rideau Canal Eastern Pathway.

  • Car access: There is free street parking nearby, as well as paid parking at the National Arts Centre, City Hall and nearby municipal lots.
  • Cycling and pedestrian access: The site is accessible by active mobility. Unsupervised bicycle racks are available on the streets.
  • Public transit: Major transit companies in the National Capital Region offer routes that stop near the start point. Use their travel planners to get there by bus.

Good to know

A washroom is available on the boat. Bring your own water bottle. Only guide dogs and service dogs are allowed on board.
