News Release

June 13, 2024

NCC beaches in Gatineau Park and Leamy Lake Park open tomorrow for the summer season.

From June 14 to September 2, 2024, lifeguards will be on duty from 10 am to 6 pm at beaches on Meech Lake and Philippe Lake, and from 10 am to 7 pm at Leamy Lake. Visitors are asked to be mindful of personal safety and stay in marked swimming areas.

Please note that due to the Philipe Lake campground rehabilitation, Smith Beach is closed this season.

Water testing

Water quality is tested every week. Test results, as well as the full list and status of beaches, will be available on our website as of June 14.

Accessibility

Philippe Lake’s Breton Beach is the most accessible for people with limited mobility. A paved path with a gentle slope leads to the beach and a wheelchair ramp. A beach wheelchair is available upon request. Over the course of the season, a beach access mat will be added to Blanchet, Parent, La Pêche and Leamy beaches.

Free shuttle

In partnership with Transcollines, the NCC is offering free transportation on weekends and public holidays to Meech Creek Valley and Philippe Lake (Breton Beach), until the end of October. For more information about shuttle schedules and itineraries, please visit our website.
