PSPC Transportation Safety and Technology Science Hub Facility – National Research Council Canada Campus – Schematic Design 100% – Federal Land Use and Design Approval

The Board of Directors has approved the 100% schematic design for the Transportation Safety and Technology Science (TSTS) hub facility at 1200 Montreal Road, Ottawa. This building will house the National Research Council of Canada headquarters campus.

This approval confirms the design that will be moving ahead for further development. It does not allow construction to start.

The proposal aligns with the NCC’s Plan for Canada’s Capital and Capital Urban Lands Plan, as well as with the NRC Campus Master Plan approved by the NCC in April 2024.

Federal Land Use and Design Approval - Centre Block Rehabilitation Program and Parliament Welcome Centre Shell – 100% Developed Design

The Board of Directors approved the 100% developed design for the rehabilitation of the exterior of the Centre Block and Parliament Welcome Centre.

The Welcome Centre is a three-storey, below-grade structure that complements the Centre Block. It will host security screening, ticketing, information and food services.

Alexandra Bridge Replacement Project Update

The Board of Directors received an update on the Alexandra Bridge replacement project, which included the proposed design concepts that will be shared for public consultation. This second round of public engagement is taking place from October 1 to 24, 2024, with in-person events and an online survey.

The public consultations offer Canadians an opportunity to learn more about the process and provide feedback on various elements of the proposed design concepts. This feedback will inform the project team as they further refine the design concepts.

Approval of the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Park Plan

The Board of Directors has approved the final Sir George-Étienne Cartier Park Plan. This is the final step before the plan is implemented.

This document frames the area’s planning, management and use. It guides the development of the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Park, with objectives relating to urban design, recreation, sustainability and climate resiliency.
