National Capital Region — As requested by Heritage Canada, a section of the Ottawa River Pathway behind Parliament Hill will be temporarily closed from August 17 to 23 for the inauguration of the Thunderhead, the 2SLGTQI+ National Monument. Except for the day of the event, on August 21, the pathway will remain open for commuters and visitors before 9 am and after 3 pm.

Site set up and tear down

  • Schedule: August 17-20 and 22-23, 2026 from 9 am to 3 pm
  • Location: Ottawa River Pathway between Portage Bridge and the Cliff Energy Centre
