In January 2023, Simon Comtois joined the NCC team as Vice-President, Design and Construction. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1996. After completing military engineering training in Gagetown, New Brunswick, he was posted to Bagotville in 2003, where he held the positions of Energy Management and Sustainable Development Officer, Operations Officer and Administrative and Technical Support Officer. In 2008, he was posted to the Canadian Defence Academy in Kingston as the Engineering, Workplace Health and Safety, and Environment Officer. He then served as Commanding Officer of the Construction Engineering squadron at 4 Wing in Cold Lake from 2010 to 2013. After completing the Joint Command and Staff Program at Staff College in Toronto, Simon was again posted to Bagotville, this time with 2 Air Expeditionary Wing. Between 2015 and 2018, he was the Mission Support Squadron CO for 3 Wing, CFB Bagotville, followed by two years as the A4 CE Director at the 1 Canadian Air Division in Winnipeg. He then spent a year as the Director of the Joint Engineers within the Canadian Joint Operations Command and in 2021, assumed command of the Military Support Unit at Defence Research and Development Canada. Simon has been deployed on a number of international operations. He studied at the Royal Military College of Canada, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2001. He also completed a master’s degree in Defence Studies in 2014 and a master’s degree in Business Administration in 2015.
