Monuments and commemorations

Working in collaboration with Canadian Heritage, the NCC facilitates the development of new monuments, and maintains existing ones that are located on our lands. We do not provide direct funding for monuments.

Canadian Heritage is responsible for managing proposals for new commemorative monuments.

The Memorial to the Victims of Communism: Canada, a Land of Refuge will recognize Canada’s international role as a place of refuge for people fleeing injustice and persecution, and honour the millions who suffered under Communist regimes.
