Work underway at Mud Lake will be ongoing until June 2024, as part of the Mud Lake trail rehabilitation and pedestrian bridge replacement project.

A section of the Ottawa River Pathway and the eastern Mud Lake trails will be closed for winter maintenance of the multi-use pathway. This maintenance is required to allow the soil to freeze for an increased structural capacity needed to bring larger pieces of equipment (crane and truck) for the Mud Lake bridge installation.

Ottawa River Pathway

  • Schedule: Wednesday, January 3, 2024 to June 2024
  • Location: The paved, multi-use pathway (the Ottawa River Pathway) on the south side of Mud Lake
  • Impact on motorists: None
  • Impact on pedestrians, cyclists and skiers: During the closures, a signed detour and flag person will be in place for pathway users. The Britannia Winter Trail will end at Lincoln Heights Park and winter trails leading to the Kichi Zībī Mīkan parkway will not be groomed for the winter season.

Eastern Mud Lake trails
