The NCC conducted the Gatineau Park Visitor and Economic Impact Study from September 2015 to August 2016. The study findings will inform the upcoming renewal of the Gatineau Park Master Plan, as well as conservation, recreation and cultural initiatives in the Park. The study results provided the following:
- A sense of the regional economic impact of Park activities
- The number of visits to the Park and the rate of user satisfaction
- A better understanding of Park visitors
- An increased public awareness of the NCC’s role as steward of the Park
Highlights
Our findings indicate that Gatineau Park attracts 2.65 million visits per year, demonstrating that it makes a significant contribution to the economic vitality of the Capital Region.
Here are the key findings:
- With its proximity to the urban core of the Capital Region, the Park makes an important contribution to regional economic development and residents’ quality of life.
- Gatineau Park remains one of the most highly visited conservation parks in Canada.
- Visitors to the Park expressed that the Park is one of the elements that makes the Capital Region unique and enhances their sense of pride in the Capital.
