A camping trip in Gatineau Park is the perfect way to immerse yourself in nature, minutes from downtown Ottawa-Gatineau. Nestled in the heart of a vast conservation park are two campgrounds that offer experiences ranging from canoe-camping and tent camping to staying in an RV or at a ready-to-camp unit.

This summer, the Philippe Lake sector is fully reopening to campers following extensive modernization work. The refreshed facilities now offer upgraded amenities while preserving the natural beauty and tranquility of the area.

Reservations open February 28, 2026, at 9 am (EST).


Philippe Lake campground

Camping season: June 12 to October 12, 2026

Philippe Lake stands out due to its tranquility and captivating views of scenic landscapes from the lakeshore. The campground has been upgraded to reduce its overall environmental footprint and help create a more welcoming visitor experience.

You can now enjoy:

  • Ten new mini-chalets, including one that is universally accessible
  • More tent sites with level tent pads
  • New shared spaces, including a day shelter, kitchen shelter and waterfront amphitheatre
  • A refreshed camp store
  • Easier access to electricity and drinking water, including about 30 sites with both services
  • Clearer wayfinding signage throughout the campground

This camping area is divided into three sectors:

Philippe Lake

Large family campground with more services. Located 3.5 km from the registration building and very close to the beaches and boat launch.

Renaud Lake


Small, quiet loop in a rustic sector. Located 3.5 km from the registration building and about 1.5 km from Parent Beach and the boat launch.

Taylor Lake


Quiet area on a lake with a semi-wilderness ambiance. Located 6 km from the registration building and 3 km from Parent Beach and the boat launch.

La Pêche Lake campground

Camping season: June 12 to October 12, 2026

La Pêche Lake is known for its pristine wilderness and features an inlet and many beautiful bays.

The only campground dedicated to canoe-camping, it is the furthest from Ottawa-Gatineau, in the northwestern part of the park. Sites are a 30- to 90-minute paddle from the boat launch and La Pêche Beach. 

Canoe and kayak rentals are available.
