News Release
January 23, 2025
Today, the National Capital Commission (NCC) Board of Directors granted an initial Federal Land Use and Design Approval for Motion, the preferred concept for the replacement of the Alexandra Bridge.
Motion was identified as the preferred concept by an integrated project team, composed of representatives from Public Services and Procurement Canada, the NCC and the technical advisor Arup Canada Inc. The selection of Motion relied on a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation process, supported by a diverse range of inputs including feedback from the public, stakeholders, Indigenous communities and partners.
The preferred concept design will undergo further refinement to integrate, where possible, elements of the other concepts that were identified or supported through the public consultations and engagement activities. This refinement will also serve to address challenges and opportunities identified during the evaluation process.
The integrated project team will continue to engage with the public, Indigenous communities and other stakeholders to advance the progressive design-build procurement process.
