National Capital Region—Looking for a great way to experience Canada’s Capital differently? Whether it’s biking the car-free parkways after dark with friends, checking out one of the new recreational docks along the Ottawa River or enjoying an exclusive tour of the Sussex Heritage Courtyards and Thunderhead, the new 2SLGBTQI+ National Monument, there’s something for everyone at this year’s Open NCC. Join us for the fifth edition on Saturday, September 12, 2026. We can’t wait to welcome you!
Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of some of the National Capital Region’s most important projects and places? Open NCC is your chance to find out. This popular free event brings people closer to the work of the NCC through exclusive access, conversations with staff experts and a wide range of accessible activities, including walking and cycling tours, a boat cruise, drop-in kiosks and presentations for all ages.
Confederation Park will serve as the heart of Open NCC, offering tours, workshops, educational kiosks and family-friendly lawn games throughout the day. Visitors can also discover activities at eight other exceptional sites across the National Capital Region, including the East Wharf Recreational Dock, Gatineau Park, the Sussex Heritage Courtyards and Thunderhead, the new 2SLGBTQI+ National Monument.

Take a spin after dark at BikeNight!
Back by popular demand, BikeNight returns on September 12, 2026, following a successful debut last year. This fun-filled, all-ages event kicks off at Confederation Park and features a festive bike parade along the Rideau Canal, complete with live music from a DJ and refreshments. Participants are encouraged to get creative by decorating their bikes and dressing up with lights, sparkles and costumes for a vibrant celebration after dark.
