One thing about ticks seems certain: They aren’t going anywhere. The good news is that with the right knowledge and a few safety precautions, you can continue to enjoy the outdoors safely.

During this presentation, Dr. Vincent Deslandes will raise awareness about ticks, the diseases they can transmit and how to protect yourself. He will also discuss other illnesses associated with natural environments and offer a broad perspective on health and the environment.

Speaker

Dr. Vincent Deslandes holds a PhD in microbiology from the Université de Montréal and a medical degree from McGill University. Dr. Vincent completed his residency in medical microbiology at the University of Ottawa. As a medical microbiologist at The Ottawa Hospital, he is responsible for the mycology section. Since 2023, he has been a member of the Ottawa Volunteer Search and Rescue (SBO-OVSAR) where he has the honour of serving as the first aid coordinator.
