What animal made these tracks in the snow? You can find out by joining this online course on animal track identification, taught by experts.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- understand how animals move through the snow and recognize the patterns they leave behind;
- use track details to identify different animals and birds;
- practice your new skills through Citizen Science events, including the Friends of Gatineau Park animal track inventory; and
- start preparing for cybertracker certification if you want to develop your skills even further.

The cost of this activity is $80. However, if you register as a volunteer for the Friends of Gatineau Park’s animal track inventory and attend the mandatory training on January 17, 2026, this course is free.
Funds raised help support Friends of Gatineau Park activities.
Details
- This course is for participants at least 16 years of age.
- The course will be taught primarily in English. Both instructors are bilingual and can answer questions in English or French.
- It is recommended that you use a current mammal tracking reference book. After you register, a list of suggested books will be shared.
