Sheila Boudreau

Sheila Boudreau is Principal Landscape Architect and Planner at SpruceLab, the Toronto-based practice she co-founded in 2020 (Indigenous and women-owned and operated), where she leads work in landscape architecture and planning (urban design). She is a full member of the Ontario, Atlantic Provinces, and Alberta associations of landscape architects (OALA, APALA, AALA), a member of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, and a Registered Professional Planner with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP). She also holds International Green Infrastructure Certification and has completed OCAP® training with the First Nations Information Governance Centre.

Over a career spanning more than three decades, she has practised across the public, private, and conservation sectors. Her award-recognized project work includes the Waterfront Toronto’s Water’s Edge Promenade, Toronto Green Streets Technical Guidelines, Evergreen Brick Works, The Meadoway Visualization Toolkit, a competition submission for the Nda-Nwendaaganag (All My Relations) Keating Channel Pedestrian Bridge. Projects in the National Capital Region include Vimy Memorial Bridge, Alexandra Bridge, Transportation Safety & Technology Science Hub, and Mādahòkì Farm. Her recent practice is distinguished by her sustained collaboration with First Nations and Indigenous organizations on housing, cultural, and gathering space projects.

She has taught as a sessional professor at Toronto Metropolitan University, the University of Waterloo, and the University of Toronto. She serves on the Board of Directors of Amplify Indigenous Voices in Architecture (AIVIA), and on the Board of Advisors of the Urban Water Research Centre at Toronto Metropolitan University. She holds a Master of Arts (Planning) from the University of Waterloo, and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) from the University of Guelph.
