See and learn about the Greenbelt’s diverse natural ecosystems on a self-guided tour at Stony Swamp, Pine Grove or Mer Bleue Bog.

Stony Swamp

At Stony Swamp, the Lime Kiln and Jack Pine trails feature interpretation panels. Along the way, you can see a heritage kiln, beaver ponds and beaver dams.

The Old Quarry Trail is a 3.1-kilometre trail where you can learn about the area’s unusual geology. Before you go, download the brochure entitled Old Quarry Trail.

Pine Grove

Learn about forestry and types of trees in the Greenbelt. Take a walk along the interpretive forestry trail, and visit the tree-identification arboretum on Trail 43.

Mer Bleue Bog

At Mer Bleue Bog, take the 1.5-kilometre interpretive boardwalk trail to learn about this internationally important bog. Learn more in the brochure entitled Mer Bleue Bog: A Special Place in the National Capital Greenbelt.
