On Thursday morning, February 20, at 8 am, the National Capital Commission (NCC) will reopen the section of the Rideau Canal Skateway it closed earlier this week. The section between Bank Street (km 4.5) and Hartwells Locks (km 7.8) will once again welcome skaters. The section between the Laurier Avenue bridge (km 0.4) and Bank Street remains open, meaning 7.4 kilometres of the Skateway will be open.

The 50th Rideau Canal Skateway season started on Saturday, January 18. So far, the season has provided 28 beautiful skating days.

WARNING: Snow, freezing rain or water on the ice may hide serious hazards below the ice surface. For this reason, the NCC urges the public to refrain from venturing onto the closed section of the Rideau Canal Skateway. Please respect the barricades and the signs installed at access points.
