At mid-summer, the National Capital Commission (NCC) is providing an update on our bistro pilot project. The NCC Bistro at Confederation Park has exceeded our expectations, and feedback from the public has been overwhelmingly positive.

We are excited to announce that the NCC Bistro at Remic Rapids Park will officially open on Saturday, August 17, at 11 am. Operated by the Rapids Grill and Patio, this site will provide an opportunity for passersby and outdoor enthusiasts alike to stop, refuel and enjoy the scenic views of the Ottawa River.

Due to delays in installation and construction, the opening of the site at Patterson Creek Park is now scheduled for June 2020. These unforeseen delays have made it difficult to open a financially viable outdoor operation, given the number of weeks remaining in the 2019 season.

The NCC Bistro pilot project is an opportunity to try new and innovative ways of activating key sites in the Capital. Since the announcement of this initiative, we have been gathering feedback from our partners, the communities and customers, and will make good use of lessons learned next season. The NCC looks forward to evaluating the results at all three sites at the end of the 2020 operating season in collaboration with surrounding communities, partners and stakeholders.
