Join intrepid amateur researcher and local historian Bill McGee for an evening of figurative exploration of the early Gatineau Park area. For almost 25 years, Bill has collected maps of the Park and researched its early settlers from the 1800s—mainly Irish families who settled along Ridge Road (now Trail 1) and farmed most of the high land between Kingsmere Road and Wolf Trail.
Some of these family names are still familiar to users of the Park, such as McCloskey, Ryan, Keogan, Fortune, McKinstry and Dunlop.
Bill has given similar talks to the Friends of Gatineau Park and the Historical Society of Ottawa. This event is organized in collaboration with the Gatineau Valley Historical Society.
