Reimagining the Bronson Channel Lands
Students were invited to propose innovative planning and design ideas for the Bronson Channel Lands. The challenge was to come up with innovative planning and design ideas for a future downtown area in the western core of Ottawa. Participants were asked to propose concepts that integrate existing urban forms with future housing, transit, animation and Indigenous engagement opportunities, keeping in mind the symbolic significance of the site, which is located between buildings, monuments and geographic features of national significance.
Nine teams from schools across Canada submitted proposals this year. The jury has finished deliberating and it’s time to see their designs, which, at their best, were conceptually daring, well reflected, contextually sensitive and well positioned to meet the challenges of the moment.
