As part of our emerald ash borer management strategy, we will be removing approximately 331 ash trees affected by the emerald ash borer along the Greenbelt Pathway West between Timm Drive and Corkstown Road. Dead trees of other species may also be removed to improve access and allow a safe work environment for the crew undertaking the work.
The work, which will start February 3, 2020 and continue until February 7, 2020 will be undertaken between 7 am and 5 pm, weather permitting. The work will require temporary pathway closures. Impact to trail users may be significant, as crews move along the pathway between Timm Drive and Corkstown Road. Signage will be in place, and staff will be on-site.
The work crew will be felling trees using large forestry equipment.
Once natural regeneration has begun, we will re-evaluate the corridor to determine tree planting needs, as we will be in a better position to assess this at that time.
