The NCC’s Gatineau Park parkway network (Champlain, Gatineau, Fortune Lake and Philippe Lake parkways) will close to motor vehicle traffic for the winter season as of Sunday, October 25, 2020, at about 6 pm. The road accessing Luskville Falls is closed as November 16, 2020.
The La Pêche Lake sector of Gatineau Park was closed for the season on Monday, October 12.
Reconstruction of the retaining wall at Champlain Lookout is almost complete. Work on Chemin du Lac-Meech between parking lot P8 and Dunlop Road are ongoing. Active users are asked to obey the signage and follow instructions provided by flag persons.
When the Gatineau Park parkways are closed, the following parking lots are closed at all times as they are only available from the parkways: Champlain Lookout, Étienne-Brûlé Lookout, Fortune Lake, Huron Lookout, Keogan, King Mountain, Lauriault Trail, Mulvihill Lake, Penguin Picnic Area, Pink Lake Lookout, Pink Lake Trail, and Waterfall Trail.
Gatineau Park closes its parkways to motor vehicles as a safety precaution, because the risk of frozen and icy roads increases with lower temperatures. Gatineau Park does not use salt or sand on the parkways as a measure to help protect the environmentally sensitive Park environment and vegetation.
The parkway network will reopen in early May 2021, when conditions permit.
