Sections of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway and Colonel By Drive will be temporarily closed to motorists on Friday, April 16, and Saturday, April 17, 2021. These closures are necessary to remove the changing and washroom facilities from the Rideau Canal Skateway.
Friday, April 16
- 9 am to 12:30 pm: Queen Elizabeth Driveway (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between Fifth Avenue and the Bank Street Bridge (Queen Elizabeth Place).
- 11:30 am to 2:30 pm: Colonel By Drive (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between the Bronson Avenue Bridge and Hog’s Back Road. On-ramp and off-ramp access at the Bronson Bridge will remain open.
Saturday, April 17
- 5:30 am to 12:30 pm: Colonel By Drive (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between Daly Avenue and Hawthorne Avenue (Pretoria Bridge).
Some sections of the Rideau Canal pathways may be closed for a short period to remove these facilities. Users must comply with the flag persons’ directions, and proceed along designated detours.
The National Capital Commission urges motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to exercise caution and to respect working crews and equipment, and obey signage and flag persons at the site.
