The NCC will close the temporary crossing and ramps that were built as a detour during the rehabilitation of the Hog’s Back Swing Bridge over the Rideau Canal Lock Gate from Thursday, October 15 to Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at all times.
These closures are necessary to build a new pathway section leading from the Hog’s Back Swing Bridge to the Rideau Canal Locks and to complete landscaping work. Once the work is completed, the existing crossing on the Rideau Canal Lock Gate will be kept in place.
During the work, pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use the Hog’s Back Swing Bridge to get around the work area. It is possible that they will experience temporary closures on the Hog’s Back Swing Bridge of approximately 10 to 20 minutes, between 9 am and 6 pm, as the bridge is being tested for endurance until the end of October.
The NCC urges pedestrians and cyclists to exercise caution, respect working crews and equipment, and obey signage on site.
