Westboro Beach is a key hub on the Ottawa River and is currently being rehabilitated. The NCC is working on creating a more vibrant and active space.

About the activity

The site is not wheelchair accessible.

Long pants and closed shoes are mandatory for the tour.

This activity is best suited for people 12 years of age and over.

Space is limited. Registration is mandatory.

  • Distance: 5 km biking, 1 km walking
  • Duration: 1.5 hours
  • Hours and language:
    • 10:30 am to noon: French (FULL)
    • 1 pm to 2:30 pm: English (FULL)

Meeting point

At the northwest corner of the Kichi Zībī Mīkan (Parkway) and Vimy Place, near the Canadian War Museum. The site is accessible by car, active mobility and public transportation.

The guided bicycle tour departs from the Lebreton Flats, near the Canadian War Museum, to Westboro Beach.

  • Car access: There is paid street parking on neighbouring streets and paid parking at the Canadian War Museum.
  • Cycling and pedestrian access: You can reach the meeting point from the Ottawa River Pathway. Bike racks are available nearby in front of the Canadian War Museum, Pimisi station or at Pīndigen Park.
  • Public transit: Major transit companies in the National Capital Region offer routes that stop near the site. Use their travel planners to get there by bus.

Good to know

There are washrooms available at the Canadian War Museum near the starting point of the tour. There is a portable washroom at Westboro Beach. Bring your own water bottle.
