Michael Pankiw has extensive practice experience in land use planning, real estate market assessment, health care programming and facility planning, strategic accommodation planning, public consultation and project management. His experience is in both public and private sectors, and includes federal, provincial and municipal departments and agencies; health authorities and boards; universities and colleges; airport authorities; and commercial, residential and retail developers. In 2017, Mike retired from his position as regional director for Western Canada at IBI Group, where he had worked since 1977. IBI Group is a Canadian-based, public company with over 2,500 staff, providing professional services in the areas of intelligence, buildings and infrastructure from over 60 offices around the world. Mike provided corporate and professional oversight to the IBI offices in Vancouver, Edmonton (where he has been based since 1982), Calgary and Fort McMurray—which included 430 professional staff: architects, planners, urban designers, landscape architects, transportation specialists, and information technology planners and engineers. Mike was a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners for 37 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Cornell University and a Master of City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University.
