Canada’s Capital Region – Small sections of the Portage Bridge northbound lane for high-occupancy vehicles (HOV) as well as the Bridge’s left southbound lane will be partially closed starting Monday, October 22, 2018, off-peak hours, from 9 am to 3 pm, to remove and refurbish streetlights.
The closures, which will occur occasionally Monday to Friday until the end of January 2019, will be on a 50-metre section at a time. All other lanes of the Portage Bridge in both directions will remain open at all times during the work.
This work might impede the flow of pedestrians and cyclists on the sidewalks and in the bridge’s bidirectional cycle track. Signage will be installed in the work area to inform users about the impacts of the work.
Users of the Portage Bridge HOV lane toward Gatineau must also expect small delays during the work.
The National Capital Commission urges motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to exercise caution, respect working crews and equipment, and obey signage and flag persons on-site.
