There will be multiple closures on the Queen Elizabeth Driveway from April 28 to May 4, 2018 to allow the City of Ottawa to replace an old watermain. These works are required as part of the construction of the new Rideau Canal Crossing pedestrian and cycling bridge.
The closures will begin between Second and Fifth avenues, Saturday, April 28, 7 am, to Monday, April 30, 6 am.
- Southbound traffic will be detoured on Second Avenue to O’Connor Street, to Fifth Avenue during the work.
- Northbound traffic will be detoured on Fifth Avenue to O’Connor Street, to Second Avenue.
The same closures and detour will occur each evening, from April 30 to May 4, 7 pm to 6 am. If additional time is needed the same closure will occur each evening of the week of May 7.
A 500-metre detour will be put in place for the users of Rideau Canal Western Pathway from Second to Fourth avenues during the work.
The National Capital Commission and the City of Ottawa urge motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to exercise caution, to respect working crews and equipment, and obey signage and flag persons at the site.
