Sections of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway and Colonel By Drive temporarily closed November 3

Canada’s Capital Region – Sections of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway and Colonel By Drive will be temporarily closed to motorists on Saturday, November 3, 2018. These closures are necessary to install the Rideau Canal Skateway changing and washroom facilities.

Saturday, November 3 closures

  • 5:30 am to 10 am: Colonel By Drive (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between Hawthorne Avenue (Pretoria Bridge) and Daly Avenue.
  • 10 am to 2 pm: Colonel By Drive (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between Hog’s Back Road and the Bronson Avenue Bridge. On-ramp and off-ramp access at the Bronson Bridge will remain open.
  • 1 pm to 3 pm: Queen Elizabeth Driveway (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between the Bank Street Bridge (Queen Elizabeth Place) and Fifth Avenue.

Pathway Detours

  • Some sections of the Rideau Canal pathways may be closed for a short period during the installation. Users must comply with the flag persons’ directions, and proceed along designated detours.

The National Capital Commission urges motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to exercise caution and to respect working crews and equipment, and obey signage and flag persons at the site.
