Canada and Germany: Partners from Immigration to Innovation

Canada and Germany are partners in many ways. The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany will highlight this partnership through an exhibition that builds a bridge from “immigration to innovation.”

This exhibition will present historical events over the centuries, inspiring stories of German immigrants, and innovative bilateral research projects and partnerships.

The exhibit includes:      

  • historical events over the centuries (including an interview with former Prime Minister Joe Clark about German reunification, and an interview with General Jonathan Vance, Chief of the Defence Staff, about his time in Lahr, Germany),

  • inspiring stories of German immigrants,

  • innovative bilateral research projects and partnerships,

  • a moon rover built in Canada for the Canadian Space Agency by Argo,

  • fuel cell technology by Mercedes-Benz Canada,

  • interactive display by Siemens Canada,

  • and hitchBOT, the robot who became famous on Twitter hitchhiking across Canada.
