As part of the celebrations of Canada’s 150th anniversary, and the many jubilees of the Zionist movement that mark its epic quest for re-establishing an independent Jewish state, we chose this photography exhibition, whose themes—immigration, pioneers, renewal and sustainability—illustrate the common values shared by Canada and Israel.
About the exhibition:
From Stone to Sea
Aliza Auerbach’s photographs have followed the trajectory of Israeli culture and art for approximately 50 years. With their unique and direct style, the photographs shed light on key landmarks in the local, private and collective memory. The photographs take the viewer on a journey from birth to old age, from femininity to maternity, from pioneers to Holocaust survivors and from national to personal landscapes.
